BIO

Shannon received a Bachelors degree in Communication Disorders from Towson University in 2001 with a minor in Spanish, and a Master's degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology from Adelphi University in 2004. Since then she has worked in the area of pediatric speech development, office-based therapy with children and adults, within school districts and special education preschools as well as through home-based services. She has received thorough training in differential diagnosis and treatment of motor-speech disorders, particularly Apraxia/Dyspraxia. She has also participated frequently in seminars and in-services relating to Autistic Spectum Disorders, including use of discrete trials and Applied Behavioral Analysis. Shannon began training in P.R.O.M.P.T. (Prompting Restructuring of Oral Motor Phonetic Targets) in 2006 and became certified in P.R.O.M.P.T. therapy in 2009. She is currently contracted with the PROMPT Institute as a PROMPT instructor as of 2022. Shannon is trained in the use of Alternative/Augmentative Communication devices and PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System). Shannon is licensed in New York as a Speech Pathologist, certified with the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA), and certified as a Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped. She currently resides in Ridge, NY with her two daughters.
